DOMMINO — Dissolve organic matter monitoring
Product description
National collaborative project (2022-2025)
This project is a chemical research initiative aimed at monitoring river and stream pollution through spectroscopic and pH analyses. The laboratory instrument developed by IDIL significantly reduces analysis time, cutting sample processing from over 4 hours to under 1 hour, following just 20 minutes of preparation.
- Water quality management
- Absorbance spectroscopy
- Climate analysis
- Soil carbon content
COMPACT FLUID MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENT
The initial goal was to develop a compact fluid measurement instrument for the laboratory, with plans to create a portable field device for on-site measurements. The project involved innovative work on fluid handling, absorbance measurements, and the integration of components like light sources, spectrometers, furcated optical fibers, pipe connectors, motors, solenoid valves, and aluminum fixtures. IDIL was responsible for designing and integrating all these elements into a single unit, with all testing conducted at the Geoscience Laboratory. The expected outcomes include faster analysis, programmable measurement protocols, and enhanced environmental chemistry research.
