Spectrometers & Monochromators

Partnering with Ocean Optics & Zolix Instruments

We offers compact and versatile spectrometers covering UV, Visible, and NIR wavelengths for use in laboratories, field research, product development, and process monitoring. These spectrometers are fully compatible with numerous accessories, sample holders, probes, and fiber-optic light sources. All spectrometers operate with OceanView spectroscopy software and include OceanDirect, a powerful, cross-platform Software Development Kit with an Application Programming Interface. Our expertise ensures you choose the optimal spectrometer model for your needs.

Monochromators and spectrographs are essential tools in spectroscopy, both using wavelength dispersion but serving distinct purposes. A monochromator isolates a specific wavelength from a broad spectrum, offering precise control for experiments across a wide range, from UV to NIR. Meanwhile, a spectrograph disperses light and records its entire spectrum, enabling detailed analysis of light sources and materials.

What sets us apart?

Ocean Optics spectrometers are designed with an asymmetrical crossed Czerny-Turner f/4 optical bench (except for the NIRQUEST, which has an f/3). There are two focal lengths: SR models (including FX and HDX) for Standard Resolution with a 40 mm focal length and HR models (including QE and NIRQUEST) for High Resolution with a 100 mm focal length.

Zolix monochromators are design with a rugged Czerny-Turner f/4.2 optical bench with 200nm, 320nm, 500nm and 750nm focal lengths. Notice Omni-ispectrographs with VPH grating have larger open entrance F/2.3 for high luminous flux.

Ocean Optics spectrometers integrate 4 types of detectors:

  • Silicon CCD linear array with a Lumigen coating to provide UV sensitivity (used in models SR2-HR2, SR4-HR4 and ST).
  • Silicon CCD area back-thinned illuminated array with very good sensitivity for the UV to NIR range (used in models SR6/HR6/HDX and QE).
  • Silicon CMOS linear sensor with good UV response (used in model FX).
  • InGaAs linear array for detection above 1100 nm (used in models NIRquest and FlameNIR).

Zolix offers a range of single channel detector (PMT and solid detectors) can be connected well with Zolix monochromator and accessories for scanning spectrometers, spectral coverage is UV-VIS-IR spectrum.

  • Room temperature PMT, spectral range: 200nm – 900nm (1010nm, 1200nm)

Ocean Optics entrance slits are fixed in the SMA 905 bulkhead to sit against the end of a fiber. SMA bulkhead can be removed, allowing the slit to be selected in various widths from 5 µm to 200 µm. Note that all slits are 1 mm tall. An optional FC entrance connector is also available.

Zolix entrance/output variable slits are manual or motorised 10µm-3mm with selectable height 2,4 and 14 mm.

A wide selection of gratings is available, depending on your spectral range application and optical spectral resolution specifications.

A large range of flexible accessories are available:

  • Filters
  • Shutters
  • Optical fiber and probes
  • Integrating spheres
  • Sample chambers
  • Holders
