FBG sensor

Product description

IDIL manufactures single FBG sensors and FBG array sensors for continuous monitoring of temperature, strain, and various physical and chemical parameters. Optimized for industrial and harsh environments, our FBG sensors can be photo-imprinted on fibers with acrylate, polyimide, or metallic coatings. We offer customizable manufacturing parameters (length, bandwidth, reflectivity), and packaging options (flexible or rigid metallic tubes, customer specific packaging, etc.).

  • Single FBG: 1 FBG along the fiber at arbitrary position
  • FBG array: up to 20 FBGs at arbitrary positions
  • Customizable spectral and manufacturing parameters

QUESTIONS

A Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor is an optical device inscribed in a fiber using a UV laser pattern. Acting as a wavelength-selective mirror, it reflects a specific wavelength that shifts in response to strain or temperature changes. FBG sensors provide high-precision measurements thanks to direct wavelength encoding, ensuring robust signal detection over long distances. Multiplexing techniques (WDM, TDM) enable multiple sensors to operate on a single fiber. Unlike traditional sensors, FBG sensors are immune to electromagnetic interference and can be embedded into complex structures (for example composite materials).

FBG sensors are designed for structural health monitoring and demanding industries, excelling in extreme temperatures, corrosive environments, and high-EMI areas. IDIL manufactures FBGs with acrylate and polyimide fibers, as well as specialty fibers (pure silica core, bend-insensitive, radiation-resistant, multi-core).
